Rocky Point is the closest beach area to Phoenix so when Arizonans want
to see the ocean and play in the surf, they go to Rocky Point, Mexico.
Rocky Point has a number of beach areas and our favorite is Sandy Beach.
These beaches are family friendly.
Sandy Beach is an area where new hi-rise hotels are
going in. It's currently surrounded by wide open spaces, RV parks and
it has the biggest "party" atmosphere in Rocky Point. The sand
is large and course and a whitish yellow...it's beautiful against the
turquoise blue water at sunset.
The tide at Sandy Beach goes way out and it's a great place to see starfish,
crabs and sea cucumbers. It's a fun place for kids to spend time.
Playa Hermosa Beach - This is a another great low tide
beach...make sure you take the kids. When the tide pools are exposed
you can search for sea plants, coral, shrimp and octupus. This makes
for a great family outing.
